Coming fall 2027 · Tampa Bay

Sit. Stay. Stir.

Grits the way GG made them. Then whatever you want on top.

Killer Grits is a new counter-service spot built around one thing our family has been making for generations. Pick your grits, pick your protein, pile on the fixins, and pull up a chair.

The idea

The family table with the door left open.

The best grits you ever ate weren't really about the grits. They were about who was sitting next to you. So we're building a whole restaurant around that feeling and serving it all day.

We didn't invent grits. We just never stopped making them.

People say grits are breakfast. People say grits are a side. People say a lot of things.

Here, grits are the main event. Put shrimp on them. Put greens on them. Put a fried egg and hot sauce on them at nine at night. Nobody's going to stop you.

So talk loud. Pass the plate. Stay longer than you meant to.

Sit. Stay. Stir.

The recipe

  • Salt.
  • Butter.
  • Cheese.

That's the whole thing. It came from Dad and GG, it gets stirred slow, and nobody here is allowed to mess with it.

Why the name

Named after two good dogs.

Killer was a little mutt with a big name. Dad called him that as a joke, and he took it seriously. Grits was a big, easygoing Weimaraner mix that Uncle Lew named after breakfast.

They had no fence and a whole Florida street to run. They chased ducks, ran the neighborhood like they owned the deed, and came home every night to sleep side by side on the porch outside GG's kitchen, where the grits were always on.

They both lived long, happy lives. We named this place after them, and we stuck to the recipe.
